2001 Boys Soccer

Led by Southlake Hall of Honor and Texas Association of Soccer Coaches Hall of Honor inductee legend Greg Oglesby, the 2001 Southlake Carroll Boys Soccer Team etched its name into Dragon history with a 24-3-2 record and the program’s first-ever state championship.

In just the program’s sixth year of existence, this team didn’t just compete — they dominated. The Dragons unleashed an explosive offense, scoring 134 goals, while showcasing elite discipline on the defensive end, surrendering only 17 goals all season. Their balance, chemistry, and relentless style of play set a new standard for excellence in Southlake Carroll athletics.

This was more than a championship team — it was a launching pad for future success. Eight players advanced to the collegiate level, with two continuing on to Major League Soccer (MLS), the highest level of professional soccer in the United States.

Their individual excellence matched their team success. Every single starter earned All-District honors, a rare and remarkable testament to the depth and talent across the entire lineup.

Even more powerful is the legacy they left behind. Many members of this team have returned to Southlake, raising the next generation of Dragons and continuing to pour into the same community that shaped them.

The 2001 team didn’t just win a title — they built the foundation for a championship culture that continues to define Southlake Carroll soccer today.
